First couple of days in California

Here are a summary first two days in California. I would have written one post for each day, but the internet was out, so here you go =D

Wednesday
Birdie and I woke up in the morning. We had breakfast with Sak and Har. Breakfast was bread with olives (very interesting) and herbal tea. Birdie then took Pocky for a walk while I played with Sak so Har could take a shower. For most of the day Alberta and I played with Sakura. Luch we ate udon noodles, which was very yummy. Then around 2 Birdie and I left for the airport. Birdie's flight was about 5:25, but who knows how long it would take if we somehow manage to hit traffic on the way. Luckily it was pretty much smooth driving and we arrived at the airport with 2 hours to spare. I watched Birdie get through security and then drove back. On the way back I did hit some traffic and wondered to myself how so many people were going  home about 3:30-4 in the afternoon.

I made it back around 5 pm and played with Sak while Har cooked dinner. Har cooks really yummy food. After dinner we ate apples and I took Pocky for a walk. Pocky's walking route is pretty much a rectangle. We walk to the park, then around the park, and then back home. Pocky is kinda lazy and I think he tried to get me to walk to the garage, but unfortunately I do not have keys to get back in.

Thursday
Wednesday I woke up with a headache, which I thought it was due to the lack of water I drank on the way up here, overheating with the blankets, or a combinations of the two. So Wednesday night I decided to sleep without one of the blankets and it turned out I was cold last night, so tonight I will try sleeping with both blankets to see if I'm warmer.

The morning I took a shower and went down to eat some breakfast. Sak stayed at home again because she overslept, which means she is getting over her cold. For breakfast I decided to have some cereal and added some cinnamon because of what Birdie said about cinnamon being good for you on Tuesday. Sak was eating other foods, but also wanted cereal. Having meals with Sak are interesting. I didn't know it takes soo long for kids to eat, but then again I guess their attention span isn't as long as an adult.

After breakfast, I helped walk Pocky today. Later in the morning we went grocery shopping at Trader Joe's. It was my first time going. Trader Joe's is smaller than other grocery stores like Safeway and such. Sak pushed a little grocery cart and at the end got stickers. I found out later that they hide a plushie owl everyday and if I kid finds it they get a prize like candy or a toy. After Trader Joe's we went back home, put away the grocery, and had spaghetti for lunch. Lunch was a little rushed today, since Pocky had a play date with his doggy friend Mocky.

Pocky and Sak
I stayed behind to work on some paperwork. All these tax forms are confusing. I do not know how normal people understand these. I guess it didn't help me that my situation is not the most typical either. To help me fill the forms out, I called up Josie. Afterwards, I started to unpack more of my stuff and emptied my suitcase.

I came down to see if I can help Har with dinner by setting the table. Sak woke up from her nap, so I read her books and played with her. We played with her anpanman puzzle and drew pictures in a sketch books she has. She would have me draw things, but if Sak dose not know the word in english she would say it in either Japanese of Chinese and I'm stuck there trying to guess what she wants.

Then we had dinner. During dinner P came back. I feel like he works a lot. After dinner I helped wash the dishes, while P got Sak ready for her bath and Har when to walk the dog. While washing the dishes I took a break to call W. I'm still not used to the time difference. I dunno why but a three hour difference is a whole lot harder than a 2 hour difference. Maybe because what I think it relativity early is already late for him. I think over time we will work out a system.

Overall the past couple of days here in California has treated me well. I hope it continues to go well.
